Addictions and Food

Filed under: Diet, Nutrition, Healing, Mental state — hygienehealth @ 2:50 pm

Needle and Spoon

One of the biggest barriers to switching to a whole food and raw diet which is the original diet of humans is the psychological effects of addictions. The standard western diet that the vast majority of people choose to consume is full of addictive substances. These foods are not only addictive by their smells and tastes but they also contain chemicals known as opioids which are highly addictive.

What are opioids? They are as the name suggests similar to opium, one of the most addictive drugs known. Opioids are defined as anything that is non opium derived but causes similar effects on the brain as morphine (which is opium derived). Opioids are known to create positive feelings, reduce pain, cause sedation, and just generally produce a feeling of pleasure.

When something you eat contains these opioid substances they will be very difficult to discontinue consuming. People will get cravings and urges to keep on using these foods since they give a false sense of well being that lasts just long enough to get the next hit (or meal).

Which foods have these addictive substances? The most common are the grains such as wheat and all products made from wheat, dairy products that were derived from milk, and meats which can be from most any animal or even from fish.

Grains

The grains that contain the most opioids are the ones that contain gluten. This topic was covered in another blog entry called The French Don’t Call it Pain for Nothing. Gluten is found in wheat, rye, oats and barley. The other grains also have addictive substances but are not as dangerous as the ones that contain gluten. Gluten is known to create many health problems besides addictions, one of which is celiac disease. An example of an opioid found in many grains is gliadinomorphine which as the name suggests is similar to morphine to our brain and nervous system.

Dairy

Milk and all of the products that are made from milk including cream, ice cream, cheese, and many other products that contain covert dairy products such as many breads, cereals, meats, and many processed foods contain opioids. Cow’s milk contains casein which after digestion breaks down to casomorphine. Two other opioids found in dairy are beta-casomorphine-7 and alpha-casein. Antibodies of these opioids have been found in the brain stems of humans which indicates that they can cross the blood-brain barrier.

Besides the opioid problems with dairy there are many other serious problems with dairy as a large percentage of the population is lactose intolerant. They do not have the ability to digest the milk sugar known as lactose. Many people also are allergic to the milk proteins.

Meat

Hemoglobin is a protein found in blood. Every kind of meat contains blood since meat is the flesh of animals. Hemoglobin is known to be an opioid. Most every animal raised for food has been fed a high grain diet. Resdiue of the grain diet will be in the flesh of every animal and therefore these meats will also contain the opioids from grains.

Due to the standard procedures of modern factory farming most animals are given anti-biotics and hormones. Both of these additives can cause cravings and opioid type of reactions in the consumer of the meat.

What do opioids do? Opioids will bind to opioid receptors in the brain, central nervous system and gastrointestinal tract. Once they attach to these receptors, their chemicals are released and they will cause pain to stop and feelings of euphoria. Some of these cause sedation and feelings of relaxation.

One of the reasons why people feel tired or sleepy after a big meal is due to these opioids. These foods are causing a numbing of the real world and makes us feel happy and reduces pain. These are the same reactions to all of the usual addictive drugs such as morphine, heroin and cocaine.

People consuming the foods mentioned in this post or derivatives of them are experiencing the addictive properties of these foods. Often I hear people tell me that they would rather die than change their diets to exclude meat, dairy or grains. This is the addiction speaking and not the person. These foods can be more addictive than illegal drugs as society shuns illegal drugs but nobody ever shuns food, even the most dangerous ones mentioned here.

If you are addicted to any of these unhealthy and dangerous foods, I hope that this post will help you understand why. Maybe with this knowledge you can plan a withdrawal strategy from these foods. It can never be easy to stop consuming an addictive substance so keep that in mind if you decide to discontinue eating them. Often professional help is needed to stop using an addictive substance.

Not Me Syndrome

Graveyard

This world is full of people who are in denial of their extremely poor lifestyle habits. Most people live their daily life without even thinking about the consequences of their poor lifestyle decisions.

Most people know of someone who is seriously ill or has died at a relatively young age. These unfortunate people were living the usual western lifestyle. Some were participating in poor health habits like smoking tobacco, drinking alcohol, or even the consumption of drugs for recreational purposes, but most were not doing anything blatantly bad except for their generally poor lifestyle.

Even driving around the city I see so many people with a memorial on their truck or car describing the birth and death of a loved one. Whenever I notice one of these I always look at it to see how long the person lived. Nearly all of them passed away before they reached the age of 50 years.

The cause of death is never written on the memorial but assuming they died from one of the two most common causes of death is probably a reasonable assumption at least in most cases.

The two most common causes of death for most western societies are cardiovascular disease and cancer. Of course many of these people might have died in automobile accidents or other traumas but probably many died from the most common causes of death.

I assume that these people were living the typical western lifestyle since nearly all people in western countries choose to live the same standard lifestyle. Both of these causes of death are completely preventable by living within the laws of nature.

The odd thing is that these people who obviously were grieved by the passing of their loved ones still live the exact same lifestyle as their deceased relatives or friends. I don’t understand what they are thinking when they expect different results by doing the exact same thing.

It is said that the definition of insanity is the repetition of the exact same behavior but expecting a different result. I am not sure if these people are suicidal or if they are insane.

If they are not suicidal and they do want to live a long healthy life then they must be insane. They are repeating the exact same behavior of their dear deceased loved ones and expect a different result. I can not see any other way to explain it.

Possibly they are just not educated in the laws of nature or have no idea that lifestyle and disease or death are related. Maybe these people are fooled or tricked somehow into thinking that what happened to their loved ones was some sort of random evil spell that just happens out of nowhere.

Certainly this evil spell having struck their loved one can never strike them as that is not allowed according to probabilities. It’s nearly impossible for lightning to strike twice, isn’t it?

Fortunately for the readers of this blog, things are much clearer for you. You understand the laws of nature and therefore you know that there is no evil spirit going around causing disease and death. You know that sickness and death is due to ignorance and apathy and not at all random or evil.

People who live according to the laws of nature will avoid most of these avoidable illnesses and death. They do not expect a different result by repeating the same behavior that their unfortunate dead loved one was doing before they became ill. These people are repeating the causes of health and wellness and expecting the same results as the rest of the natural hygiene community who are thriving and prospering all across the world.

Our Germophobic Society

Filed under: Healing, Mental state — hygienehealth @ 11:31 pm

Wash Hands Comic

Germs are feared more by people today than nearly anything else. People will climb onto some of the fastest and wildest rollercoasters but will be hesitant to shake your hand. If you want to be left alone just make it known that you have contracted a contagious disease and the room will quickly empty out.

During the SARS scare of just a few years ago it was so easy to book flights to Asia as most people were afraid to fly in an airplane where the person in the next seat might be a carrier. I flew to Asia several times during that period and the flights were less full than usual and there were many people wearing surgical masks and using other precautions.

Nearly every few months there is a new media scare tactic out about some contaminant like salmonella or e-coli. Last year here in the USA the entire spinach industry was turned upside down because someone fell sick from eating spinach that was contaminated by runoff from a dairy or meat farm. There was no spinach available for months in any store due to this. Tons and tons of spinach already on the store shelves were destroyed.

This year the same thing happened with tomatoes. Certain varities of tomatoes were pulled from the shelves of every single store and were destroyed because someone somewhere got ill from eating a contaminated tomato.

This is not confined only to the US or even only to the western countries but it also occurs in developing countries where the same scare tactics are used. There was and still is the worldwide bird flu epidemic, which caused millions of totally healthy birds to be destroyed.

In places like Africa they have the Ebola virus, HIV, Marburg virus, plus all the usual ones like colera, yellow fever, hepatitis, etc.

Is there any justification for this germophobia?

The mainstream society wants everybody to be fully aware of this, not the phobia but the actual germs and the risks (more on this later). The big corporations have jumped right on the bandwagon and invented useful products to alleviate this problem.  If you spend some time in the typical supermarket you can find anti-bacterial soaps, anti-bacterial wipes, anti-bacterial detergents, anti-bacterial clothes, etc. In fact according to the CDC (Center for Disease Control) there are over 700 such products on the market already and more are coming every day.

Antibiotics which are medicines developed to kill microbes in the body are being prescribed to people at alarming rates. In fact most often there is no test performed to even confirm the patient is suffering from an infection that the antibiotics would have any affect on before they are prescribed. Their abuse has lead to many new strains of microbes that are resistent to antibiotics.

Louis Pasteur was a French scientist who invented pasteurization in the 1800’s. He is known as the father of the germ theory. The germ theory is what most of the world believes in due to his work. The theory generally states that germs cause diseases and they are contagious. This means that germs that are attacking one person or animal can be passed onto another person or animal by some sort of contact.

It has been said that he changed his mind about the germ theory as he retracted the entire theory on his deathbed. There is a lot of controversy related to this as there is little evidence of this fact available. Some say that he said that illnesses are due to the environment and not the germ, others dispute this.

In any event, it is unimportant if Pasteur retracted the germ theory or not. The important thing is what is the actual truth? There is another theory called Koch’s postulates. They were developed by a German scientist named Robert Koch. They are the following:

  1. The suspected causal organism must be constantly associated with the disease.

  2. The suspected causal organism must be isolated from an infected host and grown in pure culture.

  3. When a healthy susceptible host is inoculated with the pathogen from pure culture, symptoms of the original disease must develop.

  4. The same pathogen must be re-isolated from hosts infected under experimental conditions.

Unfortunately for followers of Pasteur there have been many failures in his theory as it does not follow Koch’s postulates. Many diseases do not have one organism or pathogen that can be consistently separated from the host (the person suffering from the illness) and that can be grown in a lab which causes the same symptoms in another host.

Whether Pasteur retracted the theory or not is not the issue but should it be retracted for the entire world is more of an important question.

For the average person who enjoys their standard toxic diet the theory makes perfect sense. They experience what Pasteur described in his germ theory. They often get sick when someone in their household gets sick. They often get sick after a coworker or person who they come in close contact with was sick. They take certain medicines and seem to feel better, sometimes it is antibiotics or other toxic medicines.

These medicines generally are supressing the body’s reaction to the illness. In other words the symptoms seem to go away so the patient feels ‘better’. They think thay are healed or cured of the disease. What actually occured is that the toxic medicines are so toxic to the body that the body stops fighting the illness and uses all of it’s energy to remove the offending toxin and has no energy to continue fighting the illness. There is so much toxin in most people that this toxin removal process is nearly unfelt. They think they are in the best of health.

On the other hand someone who is truly in good health and follows the laws of nature will rarely contract a disease that is hosted by someone they come into contact with. As long as their body gets acclimated to the ‘contagious’ microbes a little at a time, their body will usually be able to avoid getting any symptoms at all.

What is the actual role of microbes in the body? Microbes serve a vital purpose to us. They participate in many necessary activities throughout the body. Even the ‘pathogenic’ microbes serve a purpose. When the body is full of excess toxic material and this creates dead and dying matter and cells the normal elimination systems of the body are overloaded and can not remove all of the toxic material and the dead matter. This is where the microbes come into play as they will gladly consume these dead cells and toxic matter.

The problem is that these so called pathogenic microbes also excrete waste as any living organism does after it consumed food. The waste of these microbes can be a toxin by itself which might create new symptoms in the host. Eventually however these microbes will consume all of the available dead cells and toxins and they will in turn die off. This is when the body returns to a healthy state.

In a typical person this is followed by the consumption of more toxic food and a poor quality lifestyle so the cycle continues once again. In someone who follows natural hygiene there is little to worry about because they do not have an environment that microbes can survive in for very long as they do not have enough available pathogenic microbe food or dead and toxic matter.

Should we worry about germs? Not if you follow a natural hygiene lifestyle. Just keep doing the right things to stay healthy as mentioned in this blog, take normal precautions but do not give into the germophobic craze, just relax and go about your life. Most of the fears of the masses are unfounded for NH practitioners, in fact nearly all of the products and measures they use are more harmful than helpful to us.

Difference Between Alive and Thrive

Filed under: Diet, Exercise, Nutrition, Healing, Mental state — hygienehealth @ 9:27 pm

After living the natural hygiene lifestyle for a time now I know there are many people who know me and also know about my lifestyle. Once in a while some of these people who I must interact with on a day to day basis will either ask me a question or make a statement about my lifestyle as it is so different from the average person. Comments that I hear are things like “some people eat hamburgers every day and they still live to 90 years old so if they ate like you does that mean they will live to 200 years?”. Eventhough it was stated as a question it was meant more as a comment about the merits of a natural hygiene lifestyle.

Certainly there are many people who live to 90 years old and do not participate in a natural hygienic lifestyle, this is obvious as there are many nonagenarians still alive in the world and few of them are practicing natural hygiene. In fact there are more people in their 90’s and 100’s now than ever before. Does this tell us that modern life is so advanced and so healthy that people are living longer? Many people are living into their 90’s and past 100 today but few of them are really having a good quality of life. In fact many of these elderly people are surviving day to day in a home where they are cared for because they can no longer care for themselves. Many have severe brain problems ranging from Alzheimer’s to simple confusion or depression. Many do not even recognize their close friends or relatives. This is not quality of life just existence. Someone who we all know ate lots and lots of poor quality food is Ronald Reagan. For most of the last 10 or so years of his life he merely existed, he did not recognize his own friends or family. He was basically a vegetable. Can this life be described as thriving?

To make steady progress; prosper - is the definition of thrive. Life should be exactly this, steady progress and prospering. I can not see living dependent on others to do basic, simple tasks such as dressing, bathing, eating and going to the bathroom as thriving by any definition of the word. So few people are really enjoying their older years in our society. There are some exceptions of course as everybody has that one aunt or uncle who is 95 and still lives on their own, but still they are not thriving. They can not participate in the activities that they used to enjoy, they often get frustrated with many chronic major health problems and even more minor ones.

Living according to the laws of nature will allow someone to continue their usual activities of life right into their twilight years, thus avoiding almost all of the chronic and acute health issues that so many suffer from. Natural hygiene is not a guarantee that you will live to 200, not at all, but it sure is a way to enjoy your life using the body and all of it’s wonderful abilities right into your final days. Your thinking will be at it’s clearest possible, your bones and posture will be straight and strong, your muscles will still allow you to do all the activities you enjoyed all life long, aches and pains will be minor problems and not force you to be bedridden for long periods of time, you will be able to really enjoy everything you worked for in your life instead of lying helpless at a care-giver’s mercy.

How Are You?

Filed under: Healing, Mental state — hygienehealth @ 11:00 pm

Depression Comic
People commonly ask the question “How are you?”, it is more of a greeting than a question. Often it is used instead of hello or other forms of greeting. It is very rare for the person who was asked this to respond with anything other than fine or well or good. I know that even at times when I was feeling really bad I have answered this question with ‘fine’, ‘okay’, ‘good’. I believe that many people will do the same as this answer is safe and will not result in more questions. If you are really not feeling well you don’t want to start a whole explanation and description of the way you feel as that might make you feel even worse so you just tell a little lie and say that you are fine.

As for the way I personally feel, I have to admit that after living according to the laws of nature, I feel much better these days than I did before I was living this lifestyle. Of course I had no way of knowing that I wasn’t feeling as good as I could, I had no gauge or objective means to experience how to feel better so I assumed the way I felt before was as good as it gets. In fact I didn’t realize that before I was living this way I was often depressed. There were many times that I was very depressed before living this way and I do remember those times but even when I wasn’t depressed I just wasn’t feeling just right.

I have heard of many other people who have been chronically depressed and after removing the poor diet and bad lifestyle their depression was completely lifted. Many people do not even realise this and continue to live with their depression without even knowing they do not need to always feel that way. Some depressed people will go to a doctor to try to get over their depression and they almost always end up with a prescription for some toxic mood altering drug or addictive narcotic. In fact many years ago when I was depressed I went to see a doctor and he tried to encourage me to take some prescription drugs to help me get over it.

Even at that time I knew drugs were a last resort and that I could try a number of things before taking those addictive and toxic chemicals. Instead of yielding to the doctor I decided to read a book about depression which totally explained to me the causes of depression. After reading the book I felt a lot better as the book explained the causes of depression and these causes were completely controllable by me. It was a great relief for me to know this, just the knowledge of the cause was enough for me to lift the depression out from my life.

This happened many years ago way before I even had a clue about the laws of nature. There were many times after that period where I started to feel depressed again but not to the same extent. Now that I follow the laws of nature I feel as if there is almost no possible way that I can ever feel depressed again. I always think of the positive side of every situation and my mental and physical health are at their best point of any in my entire life.

It’s a shame that many depressed people needlessly suffer when relief is so simple, they do not need to use artificial chemicals or spend lots of money on a therapist, all they need to do is follow the laws of nature and their depression will eventually lift. Depression is not a natural phenomenon, it is the body’s reaction to a toxic environment, once your body is in a low toxin, stable environment and all of the laws of nature are followed depression just is not possible.

Unfortunately society shuns those who do not seem happy or do not fit in with the rest of society and depressed people often do not seek help or seek help from the wrong sources such as the medical estabishment. They needlessly suffer. Some go as far as suicide attempts or do other forms of deviant behaviors. If you are depressed or know someone who is, please learn about natural hygiene and start a new life free of depression.

Rebuttal to Skeptoid Post on Natural Hygiene

Filed under: Diet, Exercise, Nutrition, Healing, Fasting, Rest, Sleep, Sunshine, Relationships, Mental state — hygienehealth @ 9:23 pm

There is a guy named Brian Dunning who posts on a web site called skeptoid.com. He includes podcasts of every post. The one I am addressing here is number 28 posted on February 19, 2007 which pertains to Natural Hygiene. If you have not read or heard this then go to the article and read it or listen to the podcast here: http://skeptoid.com/episodes/4028 then return to read my rebuttal.

For anyone who is already familiar with natural hygiene, this blog entry is a complete moot point as Brian is so off of the mark with this article that it is not even worth a rebuttal. For those who are less familiar with natural hygiene and who might be open to the article or even possibly believe it, this is for you.

First of all, Brian doesn’t understand natural hygiene at all. He stresses that natural hygiene’s basis is that medicine and vaccinations are harmful to the body and should be avoided. Never in the article does he ever mention that natural hygiene is a totally different lifestyle from the popular or standard lifestyle that the vast majority of people choose to live. Nothing is further from the truth.

Natural hygiene is a lifestyle that includes the avoidance of medical procedures, medications, herbs, supplements, and vaccinations. Avoiding these without living within the natural laws of nature is not at all natural hygiene and no hygienist would ever live the standard life and simply avoid medications unless they are in transition to a complete natural hygienic life.

Consuming toxins on a daily basis, not getting enough sleep, exercise, positive stimulation, sunshine and all the other necessary inputs that a natural hygienist requires and then refusing medical treatment doesn’t make any sense for one and second, doing so can actually be more harmful than helpful unless the person is ready to transition fully into a hygienic lifestyle.

I am not saying that the medicines and medical procedures that people use are helpful, no, not at all, but I am saying that if a person is already so toxic that their body doesn’t know how to react to more toxins, then taking these medicines might make the person feel like they are recovering from whatever they were suffering from. It is only after these people detox and completely transition to a natural hygiene lifestyle that they should avoid toxins, many of which are called medicine, herbs, supplements, and vaccinations.

Also Brian fails to mention that everytime that someone ‘miraculously’ gets healed from a dis-ease that it was their body that healed them (in all cases, 100% of the time) and not the medicine or other modality. He seems to think that some medicines or other sources can actually do something helpful to the body that the body could not do itself. He fails to mention that adding the medicine will usually if not always actually get in the way of the body’s natural healing systems.

His example of getting a cut and applying some disinfectant can heal the cut faster and with less risk of infection has no references and there isn’t even a piece of evidence that this is a fact. He also never discusses the fact that someone who practices natural hygiene rarely if ever gets a serious illness in the first place. He also doesn’t mention that most hygienists will go through a period of fasting if and when there is a need to in order to heal any substantial illness or dis-ease.

Brian mentions that child mortality is to blame for a substantial increase in life expectancy over the years. He implies that this is due to child inoculations to prevent childhood dis-eases. Natural hygienists’ children rarely suffer from these childhood dis-eases as their body is non toxic and they do not harbor the environment internally that is attractive to the germs and mirobes that cause these dis-eases.

It is also mentioned that ‘modern day non-civilized native tribes’ lack access to modern medicine and thus are the only large groups ‘practicing natural hygiene’. This is a complete inaccuracy as most of these tribes do not practice natural hygiene at all, they only do not have access to modern medicines, which as I mentioned is not practicing natural hygiene by any means.

I also have no idea where he pulled that number of having a life expectancy of 34 years from. There are no references of how he arrived at that number, and even if it was correct, these tribes are not practicing natural hygiene so it really is nothing to do with natural hygiene at all.

Brian mentions that modern natural hygiene practitioners choose to become natural hygienists after they reached adulthood and therefore are past the vulnerable childhood years when they can contract dangerous and deadly childhood dis-eases. There is some truth to the first part as most children in the world are being raised by parents who have no idea about the laws of nature and natural hygiene.

It is not the children’s choice to be raised in such a toxic lifestyle at all. Still there are many parents who do live within the laws of nature and do practice natural hygiene and do raise their children with natural hygiene and most of these children are thriving beyond human belief. Many of them never even see one sick day in their life and never have the childhood inoculations or dis-eases, ever.

In summary, there is nothing in Brian’s article that even remotely refers to the actual natural hygiene lifestyle. He seemed to have made up a new definition of natural hygiene for his own purposes and then goes on to prove that it (the incorrect definition of natural hygiene) is not helpful. Even his arguments for this are full of holes and nothing is referenced.

Anyone who actually knows what natural hygiene is and understands it will surely get a good laugh from this inaccurate folly of made up blunders. Thanks for the laugh, Brian, it will help my readers get one of the important factors necessary for living a natural hygiene lifestyle, laughter!

The Immutable Laws of Nature

Filed under: Diet, Exercise, Nutrition, Healing, Rest, Sleep, Sunshine, Relationships, Mental state — hygienehealth @ 12:00 am

This entire web site is devoted to the laws of nature. Several of the others postings have covered this topic to some degree but this one will explain more precisely what the laws of nature really are. What is an immutable law? Immutable means that there are no changes, once set or created there can never be modifications. The laws of physics for example are immutable because they explain how matter and energy interact no matter where it is in the universe, no matter how big or how small the objects are, no matter what other influences are existing at the time, they exist for both organic and inorganic matter in exactly the same way.

Most people fail to understand that the laws of nature are immutable, they are always the laws and they are constant through time and location. Before advanced life forms existed on earth the same laws of nature existed. Throughout the history of life on earth, the same laws of nature have always been in place. Nothing can or ever will change the laws of nature.

New discoveries, new technologies, new species, changes in the atmosphere, changes in the climate, etc. do not and will never change the laws of nature. Man can create all the pharmaceuticals possible, all the food additives possible, all the genetically modified food possible and still the laws of nature will not change. Medical technology will also never change the laws of nature. People might be able to create a machine that keeps a living organism alive for hundreds of years, but that will not change the laws of nature.

Life as we know it on earth is opportunistic in nature. This means that when there is a condition or environment that is formidable to a particular life form, the life form will find its way to exist in the environment, either by evolving into it or by transitioning from another environment. If the environment is stable enough for the life form, the life form will not just survive but it will thrive and flourish.

The important parts of all of this are the environmental inputs which must be the correct ones for the life form. This carries over for human life as much as any other life form. Humans must get certain environmental inputs in order to live, but in order to thrive and flourish they need stable and reliable inputs in sustainable amounts.

The inputs that a human needs to maintain life, which includes health are the following:

  1. Good quality diet which the human digestive system can use without the expense of vast amounts of energy, science and archeological evidence prove that the ultimate human diet is a raw unprocessed diet that is comprised of mainly plant foods including ripe and fresh fruits, leaves, shoots and a few nuts and seeds with minute amounts of other forms of life like certain bacteria.
  2. Exercise, humans as well as most advanced life forms need to continuously keep active. The muscular, skeletal, respiratory, and even nervous systems need to have activity on a daily basis to stay tuned and in good condition.
  3. Mental state needs to be positive and there needs to be useful and meaningful thoughts and thought patterns. Long periods of negative thoughts or an idle mind can create health issues.
  4. Positive relationships, humans are social beings and they need to have strong social relationships.
  5. Sleeping is an often neglected activity in the modern world. Many people will opt to consume strong caffeinated foods or beverages in order to artificially have a feeling of being awake. This deprives the body of essential sleep which is the only way to refresh the body, regenerate and heal tissues and the mind.
  6. Sunshine on exposed naked skin is critical to human health. Vitamin D as well as other essential nutrients are only manufactured by the body when it is exposed to the rays of the sun. The sun also helps with mental state and helps with many other functions throughout the body.
  7. Rest is also an essential component of health. It is often over looked and many people will not take enough time to relax even when they have faced constant stress in their life.
  8. Clean fresh air is essential as humans breath air.
  9. Comfortable temperature in the range of 68 degrees fahrenheit to about 85 degrees fahrenheit.
  10. A natural habitat where there are many kinds of natural species and beauty. Humans use their eyes which see in color for most of their senses of the outside world. A beautiful natural setting stimulates the brain and creates positive feelings.
  11. Feelings of security and no fear of harm.

There are other environmental factors necessary for humans to thrive but these are some of the most important ones.

Our body is so well adjusted to the changes that have occurred in the past due to ice ages, natural disasters, fire, floods, and droughts that most of us can survive without these optimal inputs for a certain length of time. We can still stay alive without clean fresh air for a time or without easy to digest food for a while but if these sub-optimal conditions last for too long the body will suffer and dis-ease results. A thriving human must have a balance of all of these inputs available to them all the time.

The world’s environment today is such that getting the inputs that are necessary for thriving is nearly impossible. Most people live in large high density populated cities with low quality air, little if any natural areas. Most people consume a diet that is so far from the optimal human diet that it is a wonder they can even survive. Most people rarely exercise, have negative and dangerous relationships, work in a job that they hate, many smoke tobacco products, is it any wonder that humans seem to be having more and more chronic and acute illnesses and premature deaths? If you disobey the municipal law you might get caught and get fined but if you disobey the laws of nature you will have a much worse fine to pay.

The Boob Tube.

Filed under: Mental state — hygienehealth @ 2:27 pm

The television has been a part of most household’s inventory in developed and most developing countries for decades. The vast majority of our free time is wasted in front of the box with the lights emanating from it. Is this a good healthy habit? Do we even question this behavior? Just because the majority of the world population stares at this box for countless hours a week doesn’t mean that it is the right thing to do. While in front of this box our bodies are usually idle and not getting any exercise.

Our minds are usually on absorb mode and we stop most cognitive thinking while in front of this media delivery station. There is almost nothing left to the imagination as every scene and picture is clearly and graphically shown. In the US the nightly news is always filled with graphic violent scenes to keep the ratings high. I have no idea why people love to see blood and guts, but it seems that is the way to get the high ratings.

Science has shown that our pulses quicken and adrenalin pumps through our body when we see this kind of horror. The bad part about this is that adrenalin is used by the body for emergency purposes like when we are being threatened. It allows us to either fight or get away from the threat. We need to use our muscles at that time to dissipate the adrenalin, otherwise it will create a situation where all of the systems in our body are ready for activity but there is no activity. Having this occurance happen over and over is not healthy and can even cause health problems.

Life is meant to be lived and we are to participate in it and we are not meant to be a bystander watching while others live. This is a major contributor to illness and poor health. The thoughts and feelings that we experience do a lot to maintain our health and wellbeing. When these are negative we eventually get sick, when these are positive our health will thrive.

Another big issue with the television is that most people watch the commercial stations. These channels are paid for by these companies who want to sell us their wonderful products and services. This is not in the best interest of the people who purchase these products and services but are in the best interest of the large shareholders and executives of the companies who sell these products and services.

Most of these products are not healthy and do not encourage positive and healthy lifestyles. Next time you are in front of a TV, take note of the commercials. Do you really think you need to use the new improved skin softener with an artificial coconut scent? Wouldn’t just eating a fresh young coconut with the full spectrum of nutrients be much healthier to your body than a new improved skin softener with atrificial coconut scent?

Most healthy products such as fruits and vegetables do not get air time, the commercials we see are all for overpriced useless products and foods that have been overprocessed to add ‘value’. This added value is called profit to the company producing the product, if we, the consumer refuse to buy these useless products these products will be removed from the store shelves leaving more room for the good wholesome foods that are healthy to us and the planet.

Next time you find yourself with some time on your hands and you feel like turning on the tube, instead put a tape on yoga or pilates on instead and participate. Take a walk outside. Engage in a conversation with your significant other or friend to pass the time. Read a book with positive encouraging messages. Your life will be improved in many ways and you will be on the natural path to a new healthy existence.
